FMC’s five-day IT Handloom Mela concludes
The five-day IT Handloom mela organised by FMC (Facilities Management Council) at Raheja Mindspace with an aim to promote “Handloom Monday in IT sectors” concluded on Friday evening with renewed interest in the fabric among the IT Folks. The mela began on March 13. The stalls set up by TESCO, Golconda Handlooms, Kalamkari and others got overwhelming response.

The mela began on March 13. The stalls set up by TESCO, Golconda Handlooms, Kalamkari and others got overwhelming response.
According to Satyanarayana Mathala, President of FMC, the Mela registered handlooms fabrics and clothes worth Rs 12 lakh by Friday evening. “The mela has witnessed a footfall of 40,000 visitors in the last five days. Friday being the last day, exhibitors witnessed a brisk sale.
Our endeavour was to reach five lakh IT employees. Through the two melas held in the recent past, we could reach 1.3 lakh people. We hope to organise more such melas at regular intervals at various IT offices, corridors,” informed FMC President.
Facilities Management Council (FMC) organised the Mela with the support of IT, Electronics & Communications Department; NASSCOM, HYSEA, K Raheja Corp, Mindspace, Sunshine Hospitals, TSCO, and others. The IT Handloom Mela is an initiative of Facilities Management Council(FMC), Telangana, the professional body of Facilities Management industry in the Telangana State to promote ‘Handloom Monday’.
Gadwal, Pochampally, Siddipet, Ikkat Pattu Sarees, Handicraft Products, Handloom Kurthas and many more were displayed. Many young girls are seen making brisk purchases, informed one of the stall owners.
We want every IT employee to wear Handlooms on every Monday to support handloom weavers. We have embarked on this initiative for the love of Handlooms. Inspired by IT Minister K T Rama Rao’s call for ‘Handlooms Monday’, we have started this initiative,” says Satyanarayana.
