Prisoners serving life term at Cherlapalli jail seek pardon
Prisoners serving life term at Cherlapalli jail and their relatives urged Telangana government to pardon inmates who served a term of over five years on the lines of good conduct and set them free to give them a fresh lease of life.
Kapra: Prisoners serving life term at Cherlapalli jail and their relatives urged Telangana government to pardon inmates who served a term of over five years on the lines of good conduct and set them free to give them a fresh lease of life.
They pointed out that the stage had been set for releasing prisoners serving life term in AP and many prisoners in Telangana are eagerly awaiting a similar gesture from the State government, they said. They are expressing concern over delay on the part of the state government to take a decision on the file prepared by the jails department and circulated it to government.
They pinned hopes on GO granting them pardon. Several commissions, including Justice Panduranga Rao Commission, besides Mahatma Gandhi advocated that a person who served a jail term of five years is sure to become a good citizen. They claimed to have been serving years of term in jails for an offence committed in a fit of rage.
In fact, their family members are receiving the punishment when they were away in the prison, they said adding that it might lead to their children falling in the bad company for want of parental affection and proper guidance. They reiterate their demand to grand pardon to them on the lines of the government of AP so that they will lead a life beneficial to society.
