Osmania University: OU Student JAC Chairman Chanagani Dayakar on Thursday alleged that the state government promised Rs 200 crore for the centenary celebrations of the university, but released only Rs 50 crore alone. He demanded the OU vice-chancellor and the registrar to mount pressure on the state government for the release of the balance of the amount.

However, the TRS is making elaborate arrangements to celebrate its plenary on one hand and on the other, it undermined the centenary celebrations. Addressing media at the OU Guest House here, he sought to know why the state government failed to release Rs 150 crore during the past one year. He wanted to know how can hostels, and other university buildings be raised without pumping of money.

In fact, the OU students demand Rs 500 crore for development of the university, he pointed out. Ignoring the centenary celebrations of the university would mean insulting the university, which is at the pivot of the movement for Telangana. Referring to the proposed federal front of the KCR, he said how can KCR, who failed to live up to the expectation of the people of the state can deliver goods at the national level.

During the Congress regime, universities were sanctioned, teaching posts were also sanctioned and funds were released to the universities, he said alleging that injustice was done to the universities under the KCR rule. Madiga Nava Nirmana Samiti state president Palvai Nagesh Madiga spoke. Student JAC leaders Nagaraju, Lakshminarayana, Siva, Ambedkar and others were present.
