Rs 22 lakh property tax collected
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Malkajgiri office collected Rs 22 lakh on Sunday towards property tax through a special counter. K Venugopal, deputy commissioner, GHMC Circle No 17 said that the collection this year has been good and surpassed last year’s collection.

Till date, the circle collected Rs 10.45 crore. The deputy commissioner appealed to cinema house owners, hotelier and other businessmen to come forward and avail the early bird scheme and save on tax.
The special counter has been useful as we did not have to run from pillar to post. I could pay my tax easily, said Rupa, a housewife and resident of Malkajgiri. GHMC officials are expecting the collection to cross the Rs 22 lakh collected on Monday as many pay the property tax on the last few days and also would be saving money by taking advantage of the early bird scheme.
