Hyderabad: Water Board officials have been instructed to streamline the drinking water supply during Ramzan and ensure that all the areas of Old City get proper water and pressure.

In a review meeting on water supply, managing director M Dana Kishore has asked the officials to maintain sufficient pressure in order to benefit all the areas during Ramzan. He instructed the general managers to ensure adequate water supply to all the mosques and provide paid water tankers; to ensure that there were no sewer overflows near the mosques.

He informed the officials that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao may visit major mosques by month end. As regards sewerage issues he reiterated that that status of all the manholes should be verified by May 15 and safety grills be fixed and damaged manhole covers be replaced by the May end.

No sewerage worker should be allowed to enter manhole without the available machinery, he said. Necessary barricading and caution boards should be put up while attending carrying out any sewerage work, he added. More focus should be made at the identified deep manholes, water logging points, he said.

Regarding replacement of old water supply connections under HUDCO Project, 60 connections should be done by each contractor every week and ensure that all the connections were given by May end, he said, adding, If any lapses were found serious action would be taken.
