Veldurthi: A farmer died of sunstroke after standing for four hours in queue line at bank to withdraw Rythu Bandhu cheque of Rs 4000. The incident took place in Veldurthi mandal of Medak district on Wednesday. The deceased farmer was identified as Manikyam, resident of Manepally village.

The 58-year old farmer went to State Bank of India branch at Veldurthi mandal headquarters to withdraw his crop investment support cheque and was forced to stand in the long queue line for four hours with his Aadhaar card and land patta passbook. Unable to bear the rising temperatures and heat waves in the premises of the bank, the frail farmer passed out and collapsed in the queue.

He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital by ambulance but breathed his last after a while in the hospital. The farmer, who was survived by his three sons, went to the bank himself as the RBS cheque can only be accepted at banks in person of the original land holder.
