Hyderabad: Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) organised one- day seminar on Plastic Waste Management at TSPCB head office, Sanathnagar on Friday. The seminar was conducted on the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” given by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) for this year on the eve of World Environment Day. The seminar intends to increase awareness on the single use plastic and the environmental concerns caused due to the disposal of the same.

India is the global host of 2018 World Environment Day, which will take place on June 5. The seminar was attended by the plastic manufacturers, recyclers and brand owners located in and around Hyderabad, GHMC, NGO and TSPCB. The All India Plastic Manufacture Association vice president Anil Reddy informed that the plastic manufacturers shall adhere to the government rules and produce only those products.

The representatives from the banyan nation explained the issues related to recycling and informed that more than 95 per cent of the pet bottles were being recycled in the country. P Veeranna, Joint Chief Environmental Scientist and D Prasad, Scientific Officer of Telangana State Pollution Control Board informed that the attitude of the citizens has to change towards a responsible consumerism and disposal of the plastic to minimise the single use plastic for a better tomorrow.
