Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is all set to implement plans to build 12 logistic parks in surrounding areas of the city to meet future needs in view of increasing traffic. In the first phase, works of one park on Vijayawada highway near Batasingaram village and another one at Mangalpally village on Nagarjuna Sagar highway near ORR-Bangalore Junction are going on war-foot basis on PPP basis.

• Heavy vehicles like trucks and goods transport vehicles will not be allowed in to the city
• Bata Singaram logistic park will be built on 40 acres at a cost of Rs 35 cr and will be completed by December
• Mangalpally park will be built in 22 acres with an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore by March, 2019
• Logistic parks will contain lodges for drivers, dhabas, petrol pumps, garages for lorry repairs, godowns to store goods

Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao laid foundation to the works on May 1 last year. HMDA commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said that as per the agreement made with contractors, Bata Singaram logistic park works would be completed by December and Mangalpally parks by March, 2019. He said that Batasingaram park which was seven kms from ORR would be built in 40 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 35 crore and another park would be built in 22 acres with an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore at Mangalpally.

Once the parks start their operations, heavy vehicles like trucks and goods transport vehicles would not be allowed in to the city. They will unload the goods at logistic parks. The goods will be transported by mini trucks to the required destinations in the city. Lorries to various commercial complexes will be controlled at Logistic Park, the commissioner explained. He said that usage of mini trucks would provide employment to thousands of people thereby Automobile sector would also see development in a big way.

The logistic parks would be built along with lodges for drivers, dhabas, petrol pumps, garages for lorry repairs, godowns to store goods. The commissioner revealed that multipurpose projects to rail and air connectivity to the logistic parks would be taken up. He hope that revolutionary changes would take place in transport system, once the proposed 35 radial roads and 65 spike radial roads to connect ORR and Inner ring road would be completed.
