IT employees stage dharna seeking promotions

Saifabad: Employees of the Income-Tax Department on Wednesday staged a day-long dharna at their office in Basheerbagh in response to a call for a nation-wide protest by the joint action committee pressing for ten demands.

Leaders of IT Gazetted Officers’ Association in AP and Telangana Manohar and Shivaji Yadav listed the demands, including long pending promotions for the employees from the level of IT officers to additional commissioners.

They expressed anguish over the indifferent attitude of the management despite several representations. The leaders called for holding of discussions at least now to find solutions to the employees’ problems. They warned of intensifying the agitation if the higher-ups continued to remain adamant.
