Shias register protest over Satyamevajayate film
Condemning the portrayal of the Shia Community in the upcoming Hindi movie ‘Satyamevajayate’, a complaint was registered by a city youth at Central Board of Film Certification, Hyderabad on Thursday.

In his complaint, the city general secretary, BJP Minority Morcha, Syed Ali Jaffry said that the movie being directed by Milan Zaveri and produced by Bhushan Kumar was ‘hurting religious sentiments’ of Shia community by depicting the scene of Matam (self flagellation) and denigrating its rituals. Demanding that these scenes be deleted, he requested necessary action against the director, producer and actors for playing with the sentiments of the community. “Such movie scenes or visuals which are in social media now are in clear violation of section 5B (2-xii) of Cinematography (Certification) Rules, 1983,” he noted.
