Neglected inner roads in sorry state of conditions

Kapra: One of the fastest developing areas in the East Zone, Kapra Circle has some of the biggest names residing here and several colonies have sprung up. The A S Rao Nagar main road has been making headlines for the fast development and swanky stores on either side of the road, but a cursory glance in the interiors of the colonies gives an opposite impression.

Most of the inner roads are in pathetic condition. Even a pedestrian cannot make a move on the road. The vehicles are not able to ply on the inner road as one enjoys on the roads of other parts of the city. The officials, who always concentrates on main roads are showing deaf ear to the woes of commuters of inner roads. Though GHMC has been allotting sufficient funds for development of roads, however there is no change in the fate of inner roads.

Inner roads of AS Rao Nagar, Charlapally and Mallapur welcome the visitors with gravels and pot holes. As the quality control of the roads during construction was not up to the mark, most of the roads have turned into dilapidated condition. Most of the inner roads are country roads. When the rain occurs, the residents are not in a position to move out of their houses.

One of the residents, Bhikshapathi, who has been staying at Jammigadda of Bharat Nagar for the past since 20 years, lamented they were facing hardship to move on the roads round the year. He said that in rainy season the roads turned in to muddy and in other seasons the roads are dug up with one or the other departmental works. He requested the authorities and public representatives to address their problem with permanent solution. When contacted, AS Rao Nagar corporator Pavani Reddy assured that they are going to inaugurate new CC road works worth Rs 4 crore in Jammigadda, Bharath Nagar, Singiredd Swami Reddy Nagar of the division.
