Shaikpet: While civic works are important, construction of flyovers and underground pipeline works are causing inconvenience to commuters.

U turns have become the order of the day and resulting in traffic snarls. Construction of new flyover works in addition to a road full of potholes has turned Shaikpet into a bottleneck junction.

Construction of flyover by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) in Shaikpet area has resulted in many U-turns.

Many vehicles are parked on the road as there are many commercial buildings. The road near D-mart junction is now considerably narrow since vehicles are parked on one side of the road and construction barricades on the other.

“I have to start early since the road is being jam packed every day, and the situation is worsening with the rainfall. Muddy roads and congested traffic is not a good way to start a day,” said Ranjeet Mishra IT employee working for Wipro.

Commuters moving towards Gachibowli from Mehdipatnam are forced to move on uneven muddy roads. Heaps of mud is lying on the road that was dug to lay underground cables.

For the commuters passing from Gachibowli towards Mehdipatnam have a bottleneck junction at Shaikpet nala crossroads. The commuters get struck as the road gets narrow as a private property stands in the area.

Tolichowki traffic police Station House Officer (SHO) Satish Kumar said “It is getting hard for us to manage traffic since the major issue with piles of mud on the road which is being scattered because of rain water.

However, we have managed to stop the digging work and we are also trying to remove the barricades to increase road surface.

While on the other side of the road passing from Gachibowli towards Mehdipatnam is struck in litigation issue. The case is pending in High Court.”

The Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited (TSTRANSCO) after the placement of underground cable works left the road astride while the mud is left scattered across the road at many regions in the city like Reti Bowli and Nampally.

Likewise, GHMC decided to start sanitary pipeline works in many areas while the monsoon is at peak. Many internal roads in areas like Dabeerpura, Rahmath Nagar, Tolichowki and Attapur have ongoing sewerage pipeline works planned during the course of monsoon.
