Vikarabad: Girls and women can now freely visit the newly set up Bharosa centre here and resolve their issues. Grievances, counselling, legal advice and medical assistance all are under one roof. She teams from this centre keep surveillance on eve teasers.

As part of the community policing initiated by the DGP Mahender Reddy, a new ‘Police Command and Control Centre’ along with Bharosa, Cyber lab, were set up here in the district. IGPs Stephen Ravindra and Swathi Lakra inaugurated the modern policing facilities, here on Friday. District Collector Syed Umar Jaleel and SP Annapurna and ASP Narsimulu were also present. The district has three police divisions and 18 police stations and one women police station. The police department has now strengthened with this new infrastructure.

Assurance for women

Women often prone to domestic violence including harassment for dowry etc,. They face eve teasing, sexual harassment but most of them keep silent. Even some of the women who visit the police station are unable to explain their woes to the male officers. To address these kinds of issues and give assurance to the women, the district police has brought Bharosa centre. Aesthetically built, the centre has beautiful interiors and exteriors. A greenish lawn gives a feeling of relief to the visitors.

The centre consists of various wings like She Teams, child line, Counselling room, family counselling centre, medical room, statement record room, administration room etc. Doctors are readily available for conducting medical tests immediately. The IGPs Stephen Ravindra, Swathi Lakra heaped praise on the district SP Annapurna for taking initiative to set up Bharosa centre at Vikarabad. They also thanked the district Collector Syed Umar Jaleel for immediately releasing funds.

Speaking on the occasion, Swathi Lakra said, girls and women can approach the centre for any kind of issues they were facing. They can get the required help in resolving the issues, she said. She appealed the women to utilise the facility. She urged the artist groups to publicise widely about the centre and reach the information to the public.
