Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Thursday expressed displeasure over many development works not being taken up in Serilingamapally constituency despite release of huge funds
Serilingamapally: Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Thursday expressed displeasure over many development works not being taken up in Serilingamapally constituency despite release of huge funds.
Addressing a review meeting in his office attended by in-charge Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, local MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, besides officials and corporators, KTR advised officials to change their style of functioning and expedite works with the sole motive of achieving development and welfare. While stressing that the government during the last four years had made special efforts to provide basic facilities, the minister called for steps to prevent road-digging, improved public transport, launch of more Annapurna canteens and changing the brand image of Serilingampally in favour of electric vehicles and modern brands.
KTR stated that the government was providing water supply at a cost of Rs 2, 000 crore and setting up Rs 3, 000 crore underground drainage facility. He advised corporators to work for people’s welfare and act as via media to solve their problems by taking up ‘basti darshan’ tours. The minister stressed the need for coordinated work by officials and people’s representatives. When the MLA raised the issue of providing basic facilities in Gokul Flats and Ayyappa Society, KTR discussed it over phone with the DC.
When Gandhi sought more funds and pointed out that negligence of officials/contractors was resulting in delay of development works and that there was a serious problem of sanitation and street lights, the minister issued the necessary spot orders. Among those present were Zonal Commissioner Harichandana, DCs Manga Thayaru, Mamata, Venkanna, CE Sridhar, West Zone SE Ravindranath, EE Chinna Reddy, Corporators Hamida Patel, Saibaba, Ragam Nagender Yadav, Jagadishwar Goud, Dodda Venkatesh Goud, Janaki Ramaraju, Pujita Jagadishwar Goud, Navata Reddy, Lakshmi Bai.
