Khairatabad: The Telangana State Organising Committee of Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) on Thursday demanded introduction of the pass-fail system from the first standard itself, after doing away with the detention policy in school education.

Raising the demand during a demonstration at the Directorate of School Education in Lakdikapul, organising secretary of the committee Murahari stated that the Central government while recently deciding to dispense with the detention system and to hold annual examinations for classes V to VIII had deliberately left the decision to implement them to the State. He recalled that many educationists, intellectuals and parents had been demanding for years introduction of the pass-fail system right from class I. The party has been agitating for long to press the demand.

Murahari pointed out that no detention system would result in less enthusiasm to study seriously among students even failing to maintain minimum standards in the process resulting in remaining backward in intellectual strength. Among those who took part in the demonstration were State leaders Teja, Bharath, Gangadhar, Hemalatha, Shailaja.
