Moghalpura: Following their failed representation to the GHMC officials, the school teachers of a Government-Aided School in Kotla Alijah near Moghalpura forced their school children to clean up the garbage in front of the school on Thursday.

In contrast to the scene where children of private schools enter the clean premises, the boys studying in Mufeed-ul-Anam Boys High School are regularly forced by the teachers to clean up the garbage spilled out of the garbage bin or thrown openly by the locals near a transformer in front of the school. The management of the school expresses their helplessness, since on several occasions they submitted representation at the GHMC office to ensure the premises remains clean and to find a permanent solution for this problem by relocating the garbage container.

“We have submitted complaint on several occasions with the GHMC officials to ensure hygiene is maintained in front of the school. But no solution has been found and the premises is regularly found with piles of garbage, most of which is strewn out of the garbage container and in front our gate,” said a teacher of the school on condition of anonymity. The school management on several occasions also made their representation to the local corporator, but of no avail as the civil body could not find a better place to relocate the garbage container.

The children who were found to be cleaning abhorred their regular exercise of cleaning the garbage, as they could not cope up with the unbearable stench emanating from the wastage, which sometimes also affects their health. “This exercise which has become a regular headache questions the very purpose of us attending the school, whose premises was considered best. We want cleaner premises to study, but at the end of the day we are forced to study in this atmosphere,” bemoaned a high-school student while cleaning the premises.

The school established during the Nizam’s era has produced some of the well-known personalities in the 20th century. Some of whom are now running leading NGOs of the City and helping mentally-disabled single-handedly for over 40 years.
