Cherlapally: The process of calling for tenders has started for the Cherlapally Railway Station terminal at the cost of Rs 226 cr. The detailed estimate has been sent to the Railway Board for sanction said a senior official of South Central Railway. Tender for the work is also under process and will be taken up once the detailed estimate meets sanction of the Railway Board.

At present, as a part of the MMTS Phase-II project being under taken by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) platform works are in progress at Cherlapally. On completion of these works, all passenger amenities will be provided on station and platforms informed an official. Earlier this year, a team of Railway officers visited Cherlapally Railway Station along with local MLA to take stock of the station. It was decided to upgrade the station into a satellite terminal station with escalators, foot over bridges, platform shelters and four more new platforms with station house, ticket booking counters and all civic amenities for the passengers.

This terminal would be useful for residents living in the outskirts. Stopping of some important Express trains would also be considered said a senior official. Presently, Krishna Express, Sabhari Express and Repalle passenger trains stop here. The overall development would be taken up in the available 50-acre Railway land only.
