Over 100 volunteers help clear animal wastage till late night
Over 100 volunteers of Team Bakried Hyderabad worked till late night hours to ensure that the discarded animal parts didnt remain strewn on roadside posing hazard to the locals in most of the localities in Old City Team members with close coordination of the GHMC and police officials continued to go allout on the second day of the EidulAzha in this part of the City
Hyderabad: Over 100 volunteers of ‘Team Bakried’ (Hyderabad) worked till late night hours to ensure that the discarded animal parts didn’t remain strewn on roadside posing hazard to the locals in most of the localities in Old City. Team members with close coordination of the GHMC and police officials continued to go all-out on the second day of the Eid-ul-Azha in this part of the City.
The Team comprising the NGOs Al Harmain Charitable Trust, Youth Welfare, Telangana Welfare Council, Janta Rajyam Movement, Better India, Ghulam-e-Rasool Milad Committee, Mass Foundation, Muslim Welfare Association, Arc Association, Jamat-e-Noor-e-Madani, APMWS Sneha Ghar, Telangana Welfare Party and some other organisations. They joined hands with local police and GHMC authorities and remained alert for clearing the wastage till late night on festival day and continued to remain on field even on the second day.
Speaking to The Hans India, Saber Yamani, co-convenor Hyderabad District, said that these volunteers from city-based NGOs made a collective effort on field, away from families on the day of festival. Each of the organisation worked at their designated location and kept in touch with officials. Some volunteers remained at the assigned point, while others ensured that no street remains untidy on the day through their rounds. For instance in Chandrayangutta police station limits, out of 15 volunteers, 6 remained at the garbage collection point, others remained on field. A GHMC supervisor and an SI remained in touch with them and some time local SHO was also seen on the field. “We covered almost all the areas in the Hyderabad limits, coordinated with police officials and GHMC in this endeavour till late night hours on day one,” said Yamani.
According to GHMC officials, about 1,500 metric tonnes of animal waste has been lifted on the festival day. Special sanitation arrangements were made at Mir Alam Eidgah and Mecca Masjid through deployment of manpower on the occasion. Black plastic covers were distributed to committees of Masjids and Eidgahs towards providing to the households for collection of animal wastage and to handover to the GHMC vehicles, which can prevent the spillage on roads. Joint Coordination efforts with police department at all police stations helped in collection of animal wastage to transport within 2-hours was ensured.
