Vikarabad: The district has been lagging behind in the fourth phase of Haritha Haram. There are some departments which are yet to take initiative. The district administration is prepared to plant saplings to overcome this situation. The authorities have taken steps to complete the task by September 12. In this phase, the target and dates are fixed for the 33 departments to speed up the programme.

There are 18 mandals and 565 panchayats in the district. As many as 40 thousand saplings were given to each village. Collector Syed Omar Jaleel ordered the concerned officers to see six saplings are planted in each house. The Collector warned that no exception is allowed in this regard. The district education department has already planted 26,420 saplings against the target of 1.50 lakh. The irrigation and agriculture department has planted two thousand saplings against the target of 8 lakhs.

The saplings were grown in all the 87 nurseries of the district. 37 nurseries were organised by Forest Department and 50 nurseries were organised by Rural Development Department. The saplings include 93.13 lakh fruit plants. Almost 36 lakh saplings were planted against the target of 1.66 crores. The officials have made preparations to plant the saplings at Vikarabad and Tandoor Municipalities. As part of the green programme, planting of 50,000 saplings have been assigned to each municipality. The necessary arrangements have been completed especially, in parks and empty grounds.
