Builders advised to obtain environmental clearances by October end

TSPCB reviewed the status of environmental clearance and consents for the construction of new and existing projects

Sanathnagar: Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) conducted task force committee meeting with engineers and builders on the construction of projects at Sanathnagar on Tuesday.

The meeting was held to review the status of environmental clearance and consents for the construction of new and existing projects.

The meeting was held after having studied several complaints on odor and emission issues with the discharge of untreated sewerage into waterbodies.

With reference to this, officials elaborated the importance of implementation of environmental conditions and compliance of consent conditions stipulated by the board.

Keynote discussion of the meeting was implication of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) notification bearing number 1533 (E) which rules out a set of codes for buildings and construction projects require prior environment clearance under category 8.

All the builders and developers shall obtain consents of board within two months of time, that is before the end of October, failing which the board will be constrained to initiate action as per law.

Officials explained the builders and developers of CREDAI and TREDA during the task force committee meeting.

Thereafter, committee emphasized all the construction projects to ensure all Sewerage Treatment Plants for treatments of effluents generated, solid waste management within the premises through bio-methanation to the maximum extent before disposing of it into municipal dump site and utilization of solar power for conservation of electricity.
