Two-day fish therapy event kick-starts without any fuss

Hyderabad: Setting aside the objections of Lokayukta and Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV), popular and two-day Fish medicine distrtibution (begins in Mrigashira Karthi) distribution programme kick started at Exhibition Grounds on Saturday. A large number of people mostly asthma patients from various states including Maharashtra, Karnataka poured into the capital to avail the fish therapy.

Bathina Harinath Goud began the distribution of the Fish medicine and BJP State Vice President Premender Reddy was the first one to receive it. Despite police department deploying its personnel, the road stretch between Mojamzahi Market and Nampally enroute Gandhi Bhavan and APPSC witnessed a traffic jam for some time. While a few voluntary organisations have put in place adequate number of food packets and drinking water sachets and accommodation, 12 CC cameras and basic amenities such as toilets and erecting of barricades and stalls were set by the government. The State Government has made elaborate arrangements for the event with departments including AP Fisheries, GHMC, Police are put in place to ensure smooth and hassle-free conduct of the event. About 3 lakh people are expected to receive the fish medicine. People from all walks of life irrespective of caste and community and young and old alike swarmed the Exhibition Grounds for the occasion. A total number of 32 stalls were set up including a few separate stalls for VIPs, women, Physically Handicapped and aged, for providing the fish medicine. The two-day distribution of the fish medicine will conclude on Sunday. It may be recalled that AP High Court stayed Lokayukta order against the event, while JVV rubbished it as a mere superstition as it was not proved scientifically.
