jnnuram housesHyderabad : TDP floor leader Singireddy Srinivas Reddy and his fellow corporators were taken aback at the sight of stolen doors, windows and pipes in the JNNURM houses being constructed at Yellamabanda near Kukatpally. A TDP corporators' delegation led by Singireddy visited the site to take stock of the situation in the housing scheme.

The slackness on the part of the administration coupled with scarcity of funds led to this situation, alleged Singireddy.A "The housing scheme for providing shelter to urban poor in twin cities was taken up with a budget of Rs 1480 crore. However, due to shortage of Rs 200 crore, balance works in housing colonies in many areas were yet to be completed. So these houses are lying abandoned, and thieves are taking advantage of it," the TDP leader said.

Singireddy warned of a dharna at State Secretariat if Rs 200 crore was not released by the government within 15 days to facilitate the completion of the JNNURM houses at various places in the city.A Corporators Ranga Rao, Bhanu Prasad, Prem Kumar, Kotha Ramarao, Ravinder Mudiraj, Ashok Goud, Venkataramana, Krishna Goud were part of the delegation.
