TDP supremo slams Congress for creating differences among the people on regional grounds

Hyderabad : Falling in line with his party’s Seemandhra MPs’ strong opposition to the bifurcation of state in the debate on Telangana issue in Rajya Sabha on Monday, the TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu batted for the ‘ unity of all Telugu-speaking people"

“Andhra Pradesh was formed on linguistic basis and the Telugu speaking people lived together for the last 56 years. People have their own sentiments attached to their language and culture in the state. The bifurcation of the state is an emotional issue . It should be solved by consulting all region people in an amicable way”, Naidu said in a crowded press conference held at his residence on Tuesday.

Congress was exploiting the sensitive issue for political gains in the ensuing general election by keeping people’s sentiments at bay, he said and added “ what he wanted is the unity of Telugu- speaking people and justice should be rendered to all region people in case the state divided.”

Slamming Congress that the ruling party created rift between Telugu-speaking people on regional grounds, the TDP leader said the Congress was trying to get credit in both regions in the form of state division. The TDP leader said it was also evident that the Centre was least bothered on the issues raised by Seemandhra people in the reply given by Finance Minister P Chidambaram in the Upper House. The Congress neither considered the Srikrishna Committee recommendations nor addressed people’s demands before announcing creation of Telangana, he added.
