Hyderabad: The content of the four Vedas has been complied into a book 'Amruthopanishattulu' and an audio CD named 'Vedavani' by M V Narasimha Reddy. The event was jointly organised by Golden Star Youth Cultural Organization, Telangana Telugu Language Protection Organization and Thyagaraya Ganasabha.
Potti Sriramulu Telugu University Vice-Chancellor Elluri Siva Reddy inaugurated the even in the presence of Jnanpith awardee and Padmabhushan Dr C Narayana Reddy who was the chief guest. On the occasion, eminent writers in Telugu literature, Tirumalagiri Surendar, Anumandla Bhumaiah, Mudigonda Sivaprasad, Mudiganti Sujatha Reddy, Turmella Sankara Narayanarao, Giriraju Vijayalaxmi, Katragadda Laxminarasimha Rao, Prof K Veera Reddy, Vaddepalli Krishna, Niharini and R Kamala were felicitated and presented awards in different categories for their contributions to the Telugu literature. They were each presented Rs 1,116 as dakshina.
Speaking on his book, Narasimha Reddy explained the importance of the Vedas and the various solutions they offer to human problems. He said that the names of 'Devathas' have not been mentioned anywhere in the Vedas and that they were introduced only in the medieval times. The only mention of 'God' in Vedas was 'Sarvantharyami'. He said the Upanishads consist of the complete meaning of Vedas.
He stated that a reader would become knowledgeable in the four Vedas in 30 hours, if he or she read the book and listened to the CD. Dr C Narayana Reddy said that Upanishads not only mean 'knowledge', but also mean 'secrets' which are learnt by one sitting beside a Guru and taking lessons.
About the book 'Amruthopanishattulu', he said that it comprises 60 'putas' of those lessons. He congratulated and blessed Narasimha Reddy for his effort in compiling such a book of great endeavour throwing light on the Vedas. Siva Reddy appreciated the author for not only reading and understanding the Vedas, but also for respecting ‘Gurus’ through his book. He said that the book was written in a simple Telugu language and easily understandable. He quoted Swamy Vivekananda as saying: "If you don't believe in anything, believe in the Upanishads.” He opined that the Upanishads are scientific as well.
