Hyderabad: Panelists of Telangana Resource Centre’s 83rd Saturday night discussion on ‘Inevitability of Telangana formation-need for a friendly approach’ stressed on the need for understanding the problems and aspirations of the people of Rayalaseema and Andhra regions, by carrying out visits to the areas and taking opinions of the people.

Bhuman, president of Rayalaseema Study Centre, Chukka Ramaiah, MLC, Prof G Haragopal, Pashyam Yadagiri, senior journalist M Ratnamala, senior Vice-President, Telangana Praja Front, Deviprasad, Potturi Venkateswara Rao, senior journalist and R Venkat Reddy, Telangana Samajika Karyakarthala Vedika were part of the panel. Chukka Ramaiah felt that the entire Seemandhra agitation was being carried out on the orders of a few corrupt political leaders who were provoking the general population to agitate. He said that the Seemandhra agitation was a pseudo agitation.

Bhuman, who expressed how he has always been emotionally attached to the nature, culture and fighting spirit of the people of Telangana, has conveyed the fear of Rayalaseema region post bifurcation. He said that the only loser due to the bifurcation would be the Rayalaseema region, which has to deal with severe water problem and political domination by the Andhra politicians.

He said that the people of Rayalaseema never wanted to associate with the Andhra people. He further added that all problems need to be addressed by taking the opinions of the people of Rayalaseema. He encouraged the TRC members to form a delegation and visit Rayalaseema and Andhra regions to find out the fears of the people over there about the State bifurcation.

Pasham Yadagiri, acknowledging the concerns of the people of Rayalaseema and Andhra, recollected how Telangana region has been devoid of water resources in the past (Krishna water to Dowleswaram and Godavari water to Krishna barrage). He said that the Telangana agitation was a manifestation of these fraudulent tactics being used by the administration and was not a hatred campaign against the people of Rayalaseema and Andhra. All the speakers were on the same page with respect to being patient about the developments and not to resort to any hateful rhetoric towards the people of other regions.
