Hyderabad: The split in the CPI ML (New Democracy) is now complete. Some of the Central Committee Members decided to distance themselves from the larger group owing its revisionist tendencies and rightist leanings, Besides several ideological deviations that cropped up during 1980s, recent developments including the open support announced for the Polavaram project and its grouping up with parties like CPI and CPM had left the central committee members fuming and hence they decided to clear the fog of doubts.

Three of the Central Committee members - Chandram S Venkateshwar Rao (known as SV) and Shanti officially announced the break up from the State Committee. Speaking to media persons, S Venkateswar Rao said that the Central leadership was against the revisionist stand of those holding the fort in the state committee, which undermined the revolutionary ideals whose base stands on upholding parallel armed struggle. “If there was no need for armed struggle, then why they still call themselves, revolutionary ?”, he questioned

He said that fighting elections was part of the overall strategy, but parliamentary system cannot be the means for achieving the goals and solving people’s problem. According to him, this was another biggest idea that dented the image of the party. “Not only winning the elections, but the members for becoming part of the ruling coalition reflects political ambitions of this group”, he felt.

SV recalled that the same people who were against the formation of Telangana were pretending to be the real proponents of the separate State. Critical of their stance on Polavaram and SEZs, he said that it was completely in deviation with the public policy adopted by the party, risking displacement of thousands in the name of development.

According to the leader, one of the major developments that made the CCMs go public over the issue was the way the members of the faction trying to reserve the CPI M-L in the coming months. It is believed that various political and non-political bodies, the revolutionary parties never register themselves. “The ingrained opportunism for power has prompted these people to completely deviate for which CPI (ML) New Democracy Stood”, the leader said.
