T advocates storm APNGOs office

Hyderabad: Members of the Telangana Advocates JAC on Sunday stormed into the APNGOs office and disrupted the proceedings of a meeting of the Seemandhra advocates. The confrontation between the two sides triggered trouble thus calling for the intervention of the police.

Some 20 advocates led by by P Govardhan Reddy of T Advocates JAC gate-crashed into the premises and took by surprise the Seemandhra advocates discussing their future course of action. The Telangana advocates targeted the APNGOs office as it had been the centre-stage of activity for the Seemandhra leaders. Both sides indulged in sloganeering thus adding to the tension in the areas. Some chairs were also reportedly damaged during the scuffle. Some of those protesting in the premises were thrown out physically. T advocates contended that they were not invited for the meeting, as this Samaikyandra meeting was supposed to have representation from the whole of AP.

“How can there be representatives from only 13 districts, ignoring the other districts,” questioned the leaders. According to Seemandhra advocates, the group used foul language and barged into the room without any regard to the women. When it was unbearable, the Seemandhra advocates challenged their counterparts. “Even as the first batch was taken by police, another batch arrived. As this was not a public meeting, those who were present were having simple discussions on future course.

It was kind of a private affair”, said V Srinivas Reddy, coordinator, Seemandhra advocates. Later protesting advocates were detained by the police, who were taken to Abids PS. The Chairman of T-Advocates JAC, M Rajender Reddy, while condemning the arrests demanded their release. He said that this kind of activity being conducted by Seemandhra lawyers would not be allowed in this city as it is detrimental to the aspirations of Telangana.

Legislators Nagam Janardhan Reddy (BJP), T Harish Rao (TRS), Mallepalli Lakshmaiah (T JAC co-chairman) condemned the arrests of Telangana advocates and demanded their immediate release.
