Hyderabad: Minister for Agriculture N Raghuveera Reddy said that the State government decided to oppose the land ceiling limit incorporated in the new Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill, which was passed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
Addressing mediapersons on Friday, Raghuveera Reddy said that the Bill fixed land ceiling limit as 5 to 10 acres in case of irrigated land and 10 to 15 acre in dry land. He said that the State had its objections on the issue and decided to oppose it.
He further added that the land ceiling is being implemented in Andhra Pradesh from 10 to 54 acres. He said that the government decided to write to the Centre to allow the State the present land ceiling limit instead of the new one. He said that the many land holdings in the State are between 10 to 54 acres and such extend is convenient for farm mechanisation.
