Jagan forcibly given fluids
YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s fast was foiled at NIMS on Saturday. As directed by the jail authorities, the doctors administered intravenous (IV) fluids bringing an end to his weeklong protest. The doctors issued a health bulletin before breaking his deeksha informing that his health condition had deteriorated. He was severely ill and required fluids immediately. His sugar levels, blood pressure and pulse rate had dropped.

Hyderabad: YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s fast was foiled at NIMS on Saturday. As directed by the jail authorities, the doctors administered intravenous (IV) fluids bringing an end to his weeklong protest. The doctors issued a health bulletin before breaking his deeksha informing that his health condition had deteriorated. He was severely ill and required fluids immediately. His sugar levels, blood pressure and pulse rate had dropped.
A team of seven doctors was entrusted with the task of monitoring his condition ever since he was shifted from Osmania Hospital to NIMS on Friday night. He was admitted at the emergency block. Source said that Jagan did not cooperate with the doctors initially he was forced to undergo treatment to recuperate fast. It is learnt that Jagan told the doctors that he launched the agitation for a specific purpose and he will not give it up half way.
“My life is not bigger than the interests of the state. How can it be ignored? If justice cannot be done to all the regions, maintain status quo… I have the energy to continue the deeksha,” he pleaded. “In the past I have undertaken deeksha for seven days. Please do not break my deeksha forcibly. I will fully cooperate for the medical tests. Except water, I will not take any type of fluids. Please do not force me to have food. I have great regards for your service," Jagan told the doctors.
After meeting Jagan in the hospital in the evening, YSR party honorary president YS Vijayamma told newsmen that her son was very weak. Doctors forcefully administered fluids intravenous on the plea that his health condition was fast deteriorating and it would lead to further complications if he was not treated now. Initially, she was not allowed to meet Jagan. She had a three-hour-long wait before she was allowed to meet her son.
She said Jagan had thanked the people for extending solidarity with his deeksha. He also lauded the people for showing courage to fight against the division of the state. Earlier, his wife Bharathi also met Jagan after the CBI court granted permission to her to assist her ailing husband in the hospital. She told newsmen that she had not discussed politics with Jagan. He was forced to give up his deeksha as he was administered fluids against his will. His metabolism was affected with the blood sugar levels and pulse rates dropping.
She asked him if he was not afraid of the alarming health situation. But he boldly told her, “If we do not react at the time when we have to react then there is no point in being in public life.” she said. Anil also visited his brother–in-law Jagan and enquired about hid health condition. He too had an hour-long wait to see him.
