Hyderabad: A strong feeling of belongingness towards Hyderabad, a demand for introduction of Telangana Bill in the Parliament and women’s role in the new Telangana State were the focus of discussions in the round-table conference organised by Telangana Women’s Joint Action Committee at Osmania University on Tuesday. TRS leader Etela Rajender said that the services of women need to be appreciated and rewarded by the society. He said that women’s participation was paramount to the development of Telangana State once it is formed.
Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar, Rajya Sabha member, said that the city was itself dependent on Telangana for many needs.
He said that many poor people from Rayalaseema and Andhra regions had come to Hyderabad to find a livelihood since 1950s. However, there were a very few investors, who had occupied thousands of acres of lands in Hyderabad surroundings, looted public money and therefore the Telangana movement had reached such a stage.
Ratnamala, Telangana Praja Front General Secretary, said that on touring Guntur and Prakasam districts recently, she could hardly see half the number of villages in the districts participating in the movement. She said that even educational institutions like Sri Chaitanya and Narayana were turn-wise sending their students to agitate for Samaikyandhra. Sridhar Reddy, MLC, Etela Rajender, TRS MLA, Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar, MP, Rajya Sabha, Karnam Prabhakar, Veda Kumar, President, TPF, Prof Laxmi, G Syamala, Khurshid Begum and many other members of TWJAC were present on the occasion.
