Mopidevi gets interim bail

Hyderabad: The Special Court for CBI cases at Nampally on Monday granted an interim bail to former Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana till October 31, 2013. The bail was granted on health grounds. The court, however, has set some conditions before granting the bail. He was directed to furnish a bail bond to the tune of Rs 50,000 with two sureties of like amount. He was asked to surrender his passport to the court and directed to co-operate with the CBI in the investigations.

Mopidevi has been lodged in Chanchalguda Jail since his arrest by the CBI on May 24 this year for his alleged role in the VANPIC segment of disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy. In his petition seeking interim bail, Mopidevi told the court that he was suffering from chronic back pain due to problem in his spinal cord.
