CM asks officials to monitor situation in rain-hit areas

Following heavy rains in many parts of the State, the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday instructed the officials to constantly monitor the situation and ensure precautionary steps to evacuate people living in low-lying areas. The Chief Minister reviewed the situation with Chief Secretary PK Mohanty over phone.

Hyderabad: Following heavy rains in many parts of the State, the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday instructed the officials to constantly monitor the situation and ensure precautionary steps to evacuate people living in low-lying areas.
The Chief Minister reviewed the situation with Chief Secretary PK Mohanty over phone. He asked the official to monitor flood situation with the officials of GHMC and Disaster Response and Fire Services and take all necessary steps to protect people.
Meanwhile, the IMD forecast Southwest monsoon has been active over Telangana. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood which extends up to 7.6 km above sea level. Another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Telangana and neighbourhood and extends up to 5.8km above the sea level. Rainfall occurred at many places over Telangana and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh & Rayalaseema on Wednesday.
MODERATE RAINFALL PREDICTED
Moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers would occur at many places over coastal Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema. Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Nellore and Guntur districts during next 48 hours. A few spells of rain or thundershowers, at times heavy in some areas in Hyderabad, would occur.
