Hyderabad: Stepping up pressure on the Congress high command to reverse the CWC ( Congress Working Committee) decision on state bifurcation, YSR Congress party on Wednesday announced that its MLAs, MLCs and leaders would stage a dharna before the Gandhi statue in the Assembly premises on September 20 in support of the united Andhra cause. Addressing the press here, party senior leader Sobha Nagi Reddy said dharna would be preceded by padayatra of the party leaders from Telugu Talli statue to the Gandhi statue in the Assembly premises.
Demanding the TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu to withdraw his support letter to bifurcation apart from the party MLAs quitting their posts immediately, she asked the Seemandhra Congress leaders to stop their political dramas and clear their stand on the division of state issue.
People were puzzled at the street plays being enacted by both TDP and Congress leaders on bifurcation. “On one hand, Naidu has asked his T leaders to send the message to the Telangana people that bifurcation has been the result of the TDP’s letter of support while on the other his party MLAs in Seemandhra are enacting street plays opposing the bifurcation. Why this political drama?” she asked Naidu. Referring to Naidu’s plans to take leaders of both regions to Delhi to solve the issue, she ridiculed the idea and asked “What do you want to achieve by taking the leaders to Delhi?”.
