Hyderabad: Seven Congress MPs Lagadapati Rajagopal, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, YSP Reddy, A Venkatarami Reddy, A Sai Pratap, Undavalli Arun Kumar and GV Harsha Kumar will meet Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar at 11.30 am on Tuesday and will insist that she accept their resignations.
The MPs had submitted their resignations last month. Speaking to media on Monday night, Rajagopal and Venakatarami Reddy said that the Seemandhra MPs had met in the morning and decided to press for acceptance of their resignations in protest against the manner in which the high command was going ahead with the process of bifurcation of the state. Rajagopal said they had already stated that the MPs would resign if the party high command took even a step forward in the direction of bifurcation of the state.
He said ignoring their pleas, the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde announced that the draft cabinet note was ready and was under his consideration. Hence they deiced to resign from Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC chief Botcha Satyanrayana spoke to the MPs and advised them no to take any hasty decision. However, the latter said they were going ahead with their decision to meet the Speaker and get their resignations accepted.
