“All security arrangements have been made for the YSR Congress party’s proposed meeting. Additional forces, including 16 companies of Central paramilitary forces, 34 platoons of APSP (Andhra Pradesh Special Police), 1,800 civil forces, besides city police personnel will be deployed for the meet to ensure that no untoward incident happens,” Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said.
“As far as police is concerned we are deploying sufficient forces and we will try to ensure that no untoward incident takes place,” Mr. Sharma said.
“There are political divergent views (on the statehood issue) ...some may oppose. However, we are prepared to tackle the situation. We are talking with some groups and there should not be any issues (on law and order front),” the Hyderabad police chief said.
Earlier, the city police granted conditional permission for the meeting at L B Stadium which is to be organised between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The organisers were directed that there should not be any provocative speeches.
