ECIL Produces Advanced Routers, Indian Institute of Technology, IIT, Carrier Ethernet Switch Route. Dr R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Indian Government, on Friday inaugurated the network in Mumbai. P Sudhakar, Chairman and Managing Director, ECIL and A K Garg, CMD, MTNL, were present on the occasion.

State-owned Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) produced advanced routers which were developed and conceptualized by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. These routers called Carrier Ethernet Switch Routers (CESR) were used for establishing Carrier Ethernet Network for Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL).
Dr R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Indian Government, on Friday inaugurated the network in Mumbai. P Sudhakar, Chairman and Managing Director, ECIL and A K Garg, CMD, MTNL, were present on the occasion.
“The routers were developed to answer the nations’ needs towards providing secure and low-cost communications platform that would be beyond what is offered as state of the art by foreign vendors and other providers. Key features of these routers are high speed and low power consumption,” the company said in release. Meanwhile, ECIL, as a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity, constructed a multi-purpose hall and kitchen at a cost of Rs 11.26 lakh for Mandal Parishad Upper Primary School (MPUPS), Kamalanagar. ECIL CMD P Sudhakar inaugurated the new premises and handed over them to the school. The PSU major also constructed an office room, a class room and compound wall at a cost of Rs 8 lakh for Mandal Parishad Primary School, Weaker Section Colony, Vampuguda.
