There is some refreshingly soothing news for those staying in the vicinity of Baba Nagar, Rambagh Colony, Bahadurpura, Attapur and other adjoining localities.

Being developed by GHMC at a cost of Rs 5 cr, the park will be a major attraction with an amphitheatre, greenery and picnicking area to provide the perfect relaxation point in the Old City

There is some refreshingly soothing news for those staying in the vicinity of Baba Nagar, Rambagh Colony, Bahadurpura, Attapur and other adjoining localities. Once the grandiose plans are put in place, the locals need not go through the rough and tumble of the city thoroughfares and the hugely polluted traffic nuisance to while away evenings with family or friends at a far-off park or Hussain Sagar or for an early morning stroll.

The area is all set to get a new landmark - the Kishan Bagh amusement park will be the next big thing to happen on this side of the Musi, which is starved of good recreational places.

An ambitious venture of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), work on the park started three months ago. S Mustafa, director, Urban Biodiversity, GHMC says, “All the works, including civil, are progressing at a brisk pace. It is expected to be thrown open in five months to coincide with the summer holidays.

The park will be the next preferred destination for residents in the South Zone jurisdiction because it will house all that is expected of a vibrant amusement centre like pedestrian walking track, food court, children’s play area, pergolas, et al.”

Spread over 4.5 acres of lush greenery and providing a pleasant ambience, the landscape will made livelier with a fountain in the centre that will have an accompanying architectural marvel in the form of an imposing 100 feet tower that has been specifically designed in Indo-Saracenic style by Raj Expedith Associates. According to Raj, the architect, “Once the park is fully developed the temperature inside would be at least two degrees less, thanks to the green island, green foyer, tropical exotic plants at terrestrial level for providing a much needed lung space.”

A redeeming feature of the park that will be under heavy security camera surveillance will be the state-of-the-art traffic management system that has been proposed. A two-layered fencing will protect the parking area and the park in such a way that pedestrians using the pathway would be undisturbed. Not would there be dearth of parking lots.

Screenings at the amphitheatre that can accommodate 600 persons at any given time, will add to the charm of the outing. So it is time to move over Public Gardens, Indira Park, Sanjeevaiah Park; the mesmerising Kishan Bagh Park is here to stay.
