The census reveals that Hyderabad is the city buying most number of kitchen appliances besides exporting the most number of video games and gaming consoles. It also shows that the city an eco-friendly one as we sell and buy the most number of garden seeds.

eBay Census also throws light on key national trends. It declares that Delhi is the biggest ecommerce hub with maximum number of mobiles sold while Bengaluru also gains position due to higher sales on electronic items like laptops, tablets and cameras. Women fuel lifestyle consumption

The census reveals that customers have been shopping more for products in the lifestyle category with women shoppers in the country being the prominent contributors to the category. The lifestyle category has increased its share in the pie to 45 per cent trailing the electronics category by just two per cent now as compared to seven per cent in the previous census. Internet shopping is growing huge but mobile commerce is surely to be the future of ecommerce.

The increased usage of mobile devices to access the internet in conjunction with the deep penetration of mobile phones in non-metros has led to an increase in the number of people shopping online through their mobile devices. eBay India received 43 per cent of traffic through mobile devices with 60 per cent of products traded through mobile devices in the country.

Interestingly, the census shows a push for the ‘Make in India’ campaign. According to the study, there has been a considerable demand in global markets for products like Indian jewellery and handicrafts. This growing demand has led to a growth in export hubs to 206 countries, thus propelling Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ visionary campaign.
