Plea for special trains during Godavari Pushkar
Suburban Train & Bus Travellers Association, Malkajgiri, appealed to the South Central Railway (SCR) to run special trains from Malkajgiri to Basar in July, 2015, on the occasion of Godavari Pushkar. The association recalled how a similar service was run from Malkajgiri to Kurnool during Tungabhadra Pushkar in 2008.
Suburban Train & Bus Travellers Association, Malkajgiri, appealed to the South Central Railway (SCR) to run special trains from Malkajgiri to Basar in July, 2015, on the occasion of Godavari Pushkar. The association recalled how a similar service was run from Malkajgiri to Kurnool during Tungabhadra Pushkar in 2008.
Talking about space constraint at major junctions, the association stated, “Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Hyderabad are saturated and there is no scope for running additional trains from these stations. Hence another platform should be constructed at Malkajgiri to accommodate 16 or 18 coaches to cater to the needs of pilgrims.”
The association welcomed SCR General Manager PK Srivastava’s proposal to run Diesel Electric Multiple Units (DEMU) trains up to Umdanagar to benefit passengers travelling to the airport. The association requested for the stoppage of express trains at Umdanagar and Malkajgiri for the benefit of passengers and staff working at the airport.
