Computer Society of India, a premier technical professional society in India incepted in 1965, is celebrating its golden jubilee year. As part of the celebrations, Guru Nanak Institutions, Ibrahimpatnam, is hosting the Annual Students’ Convention on January 3 and 4.

Governor ESL Narasimhan was the chief guest on Saturday. Dr SS Mantha, chairman, AICTE, was the guest of honour and Dr SV Raghavan, scientific secretary to the prime minister, delivered the keynote address. IT minister KT Rama Rao will grace the valedictory function on Sunday.

The Governor stressed on the importance of skill development among students. He added that the students must be industry ready in all aspects. He gave the example of smartphone apps which are being developed daily to make life easier. Narasimhan also mentioned the importance of CSR in organisations and advised students to always involve themselves in CSR initiatives. He wished the students luck and posed for pictures with them before leaving the venue.

Dr HS Saini, MD, Guru Nanak Institutions, said, “Around 2000 students are participating in this two-day annual convention. Around 40 eminent speakers from industry and academics will share their experiences in technical sessions such as Campus to Corporate, Career Opportunities, Entrepreneurship, Employment Opportunities in Public Sector, Technology Enablement in Education and Students Paper Presentation on Innovations.”
