Staff Association at Zorastrian Club and archakas attended the meeting on Monday. It talked about revision of wages and salaries in accordance with the grades of the temples viz. 6 A, 6 B and 6 C on par with the State government employees. It was also demanded for payment of wages for Doopa Deepa Nivedyam from the existing level of Rs 2,500 to Rs 6,000 per month in all the village temples in Telangana.

The meeting was by chaired by president of Telangana Archaka Sangam Gangu Bhanumurthy, convener P Narasinga Rao, president of Telangana Temple Employees Sangam C Mohan, actor Roshna Balu, BJP floor leader Dr Laxman, and others. At the meeting, Gangu Bhanumurthy mentioned that there are 12,000 temples in the Telangana State which are under the control of endowment department, but the archakas and the staff working in these temples are not being paid salaries on par with state goverment employees.

He demanded the payment of salaries through the treasury (010) accounts of the State. The Telangana Archaka Sangam has threatened to go on strike from March if the government fails to concede to their demands. Housing and Endowment Minister of Telangana State A Indrakaran Reddy said that the government was positive in considering the demands of archakas, temple staff, which were hitherto neglected by the previous government.

“We will address the issue on priority and work for the welfare and well being of the archakas,” he added. In the meeting, Indrakaran Reddy also mentioned that the government is developing Yadagirigutta parallel to Tirupati and developments of the other temples in Vemulawada, Bhadrachalam and Basara are in full swing and necessary sanctions have been accorded in this regard.

TS govt is making elaborate arrangements for Godavari Pushkaralu which comes once in every 12 years and will be celebrated from July 14 to 25 this year. Additional pushkar ghats would be readied on the banks of Godavari at Basara, Kaleswaram, Ramannagudem and Mallakatta with medical and other facilities for the convenience of the scores of devotees.
