Environmental changes coupled with our habits and lifestyles have seen diseases such as cancer get the better of us. Even after years of research and development, there is still some amount of morbidity associated with cancer that can only be eradicated with complete co-operation from everyone involved in the healthcare fraternity,” said Sangita Reddy, joint managing director, Apollo Hospitals.

She was speaking at the 2nd Apollo Cancer Conclave (ACC) 2015 on Saturday. “In this context, care providers, faculty members, social workers and other normative bodies must come together and devise new strategies to ensure that people are well-informed about the disease and engage in proactive screening and diagnosis” Sangita urged.

The conclave was inaugurated by the hospital’s chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy and is being attended by specialists from around the world. It is aimed at sharing the rapidly evolving knowledge on cancer treatment. “Ensuring that we keep pace with the changing dynamics of healthcare management without breaching the authenticities of traditional healthcare service is a task that needs able guidance and support.

Innovations, especially those that can redefine the healthcare fraternity’s approach towards conquering cancer must be shared to minimise fatalities and speed up the curative process with minimal discomfort to patients,” said Dr Vijay Anand Reddy, director, Apollo Cancer Hospitals.
