A special drive for unearthing illicit distillation of liquor in city, conducted between February 2 and 12, detected 155 cases and 98 persons were arrested in this connection. Rs 30 lakh worth contrabands destroyed
A special drive for unearthing illicit distillation of liquor in city, conducted between February 2 and 12, detected 155 cases and 98 persons were arrested in this connection. Contrabands worth Rs 30 lakh were seized and destroyed soon after. The cluster drives were conducted under the supervision of MMA Faruqui, Deputy Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise Enforcement, Hyderabad, and P Bhagvan Reddy, Asst.
Commissioner of the same department, along with the staff of excise superintendents, task forces of the twin cities. The drive brought to light 36,165 hundred millilitre sachets of ID (illicit distilled), 11,257 litres of ID and 245 kg of jaggery was seized.
Dhoolpet, Machlipura, Singareni Colony, Chintal, Golconda, Old Malakpet, Chaderghat, Bolakpur, Lingampally, Sithafalmandi, Bansilalpet, Kavadiguda, CC Nagar, Jamai Osmania, Ranigunj, Addaguta, Nawab Sab Kunta, Laldarwaza, Ameerpet and Nampally were some of the places where the raids were conducted. The raids conducted on Wednesday and Thursday detected nine cases and five persons were arrested. 3,645 sachets (100 ml) of ID, 230 litres of ID and 60 kg of black jaggery were seized.
