Will South Central Railway's plans of terminating trains at Moula Ali go the Nanded Passenger way? Well, going by the precedent set by the Nanded Passenger, it may well end up in similar fashion, which means trouble for passengers. Six months ago, SCR started terminating the Nanded–Kacheguda passenger at Medchal Railway Station but the passengers have been facing a lot of problems as the frequency of the local trains to Secunderabad is far from satisfactory.

Srinivas, a regular traveler to Hyderabad, said that it was easy when the train terminated at Kacheguda. On an average 700-800 passengers alight at Medchal and people have been suffering. With just six trips a day, people who alight at Medchal have to wait for almost two hours for the local train as the bus stop too is at least 2-3 km away.

Undeterred by the failure at Medchal, SCR is now planning for the departure and termination of summer special trains at Moula Ali station. At present, passengers can reach the station only from the south side. On the northern side of the station, there is a yard that is being used for accident relief vans.

Kalyan Seshadri, a resident of Moula Ali, says, "If a goods train stops, people would be stranded." Presently a handful of trains such as Krishna Express, Golconda Express and Kakatiya Passenger stop at Moula Ali. Passengers too feel comfortable to travel to Secunderabad as there is no approach road and street lights to the station. Noor, general secretary, Suburban Train & Bus Travellers Association, says, "Once the MMTS Phase II is completed it would be feasible to start operations at Moula Ali.

If the SCR wants to start using Moula Ali Station it should first ensure that the approach roads are built and street lights put up." SCR general manager PK Srivastava said that with the help from the State Government, infrastructure could be developed and the summer specials would be introduced on a pilot basis. The load on the Secunderabad Railway Station is huge. It caters to more than 200 stations per day and the 10 platforms are not enough.
