The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be taking up a slew of maintenance and development works in the city soon. The civic body is planning to construct 600 bus shelters in the city during the next financial year and has constituted a joint team consisting officials from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), GHMC and Traffic Police to survey and suggest locations.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be taking up a slew of maintenance and development works in the city soon. The civic body is planning to construct 600 bus shelters in the city during the next financial year and has constituted a joint team consisting officials from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), GHMC and Traffic Police to survey and suggest locations.

At the meeting held on Thursday, Commissioner Somesh Kumar directed the GHMC chief engineer to prepare a model bus shelter and make a presentation during the next coordination meeting. ACP (Traffic) Jeethender, HMR MD NVS Reddy and other senior officials interacted with the Commissioner on various civic related developmental works and various issues.

Apart from this, the maintenance of the existing bus shelters will be taken up. The existing foot over bridge near St Ann’s School in Secunderabad will be removed soon as a lot of people have been inconvenienced by it. Traffic signals will be installed at 13 main junctions in Hyderabad and 12 main junctions in Cyberabad.

The Commissioner has directed officials to take up road works near Pension Office at the junction of Road No 1 and 12 at Banjara Hills, where commuters are facing a lot of incontinence by the works taken up by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB). “A lot of encroachments are coming up near Jubilee Hills Check Post. Even electrical poles which are in the middle of the road will be shifted soon,” the Commissioner said. Work on the road from Nagole to Mettuguda will also be taken up.
