Akun Sabharwal takes over as DCA director

Dr Akun Sabharwal has taken charge as the director of Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of the Telangana government recently. The mandate of the office is to regulate the manufacture, distribution and sale of drugs and cosmetics in the State and ensure the availability of standard quality drugs to the public at the prices as fixed by the National Pharmaceuticals pricing authority.
Dr Akun Sabharwal has taken charge as the director of Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of the Telangana government recently. The mandate of the office is to regulate the manufacture, distribution and sale of drugs and cosmetics in the State and ensure the availability of standard quality drugs to the public at the prices as fixed by the National Pharmaceuticals pricing authority.
It also regulates the functioning of blood banks to ensure the availability of safe blood to the needy by jointly working with Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation. The department also issues certain licenses and transport permit under Narcotic Drugs Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
