Bhadrachalam: A controversy surfaced during the celestial wedding of Lord Sri Rama here on Wednesday when the grandson of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao offered silk clothes on behalf of the Chief Minister’s family. The Chief Minister could not make it to the event while his grandson Himanshu, participated in the festivities.

Mistaken by the appearance of the Chief Minister’s grandson, the BJP alleged that the boy offered silk clothes to the Lord instead of the Chief Minister which was violation of tradition and rules.Himanshu moved along with the Ministers and imitated them by keeping the silk clothes on his head.

He was the cynosure of all eyes as devotees eagerly watched. Some regional channels aired the news that the grandson represented the Chief Minister in the sacred event, apparently leading to a hue and cry. The unwanted controversy was played down after the TRS leaders clarified that the Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy offered silk clothes to the Lord in the absence of the Chief Minister.

While expressing happiness over the opportunity to offer clothes to the Lord, the Minister said he prayed for the wellbeing of the people of Telangana. Another Minister, Tummala Nageswara Rao, who took part in the event, said he prayed for the wellbeing of people of both the Telugu States. Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said he prayed the God for timely rains and prosperity of the Telugu people.
