Top Textile Ministry Officials Visit ATDC, Okhla and Review the Progress Of ISDS

India’s largest vocational training provider for the apparel sector, Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), was graced by the presence of Mr. Puneet Aggarwal, IAS,Joint Secretary and Mr. Keshav Kumar, Director, Ministry of Textile, GoI, at their Okhla Hub during this week.

The senior officials from the Ministry of Textiles visited the center to review the updated status of the Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) implementation undertaken by ATDC. They had a look at the sewing labs and the state-of-art machinery present at ATDC making sure all the norms related to the apparel industry trainee had been full-filled. Moreover they also interacted closely with the students enquiring about their plans for working in the industry etc.

Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) is a Flagship Project undertaken by ATDC which provides 11 different courses for students like Sewing Machine Operator, Embroidery Machine Operator, and Apparel Finisher & Checker etc. Under the ISDS program, ATDC provides 300 intense training hours with view to address the human resource requirement of the domestic and export Apparel & downstream section of the Textile Industry and have trained about 2,00,000 candidates under ISDS so far with about 48,000 candidates to be completed by March-April 2017.

Dr. Darlie Koshy, DG & CEO, ATDC said,” The visit of Sri Puneet Agarwal, JS and Sri. Keshav Kumar, Director to have a first-hand view of the ISDS training to our Okhla Hub is indeed a welcome step as we get to discuss together the implementation progress and issues especially in the context of the continuation of the Main Phase of ISDS beyond March 2017.” ATDC Okhla has successfully trained 4600 students under ISDS program and the students from Okhla have found excellent placement/opportunities in the 300-400 offices/factories’ around Okhla cluster. The visit of the Joint Secretary and the Director, Ministry of Textile is highly appreciated since the ongoing ISDS of MOT would help to accelerate the accomplishment of training targets as the Main phase is in progress till March 2017, as of now.

Ms. Archana Puri, Principal, ATDC Okhla said,” It was a great honor for us to have the Senior officials like JS and the Director from the Ministry of Textiles and the DG & CEO of ATDChere at ATDC, Okhla. It was a pleasure for the students to have direct interaction with the top brass of the Ministry of Textiles, thereby increasing their confidence in the training programme and wage employment in the Apparel Industry.”
