Washington [USA]: United States President Donald Trump's approval rating stands at 32 per cent, according to a new poll released by the Pew Research Centre.

The 32-per cent matches the lowest level in any poll on his approval since he took office in January.

The disapproval of the president's job performance sits at 63 per cent, and just 14 per cent of those who disapprove of his performance say they can think of something he has done that they have been happy with.

The polls also found that 37 per cent of those who approve of his job performance say they can think of something Trump has done that they have been disappointed with or unhappy with.

The poll additionally found that the majority of Americans -- 59 per cent -- think an inappropriate contact between senior Trump officials and Russia during the campaign "definitely or probably occurred."

The poll was conducted between November 29 and December 4, and has a margin of sampling error of 2.9 percentage points, CNN reports.

Trump's approval rating has been fairly stagnant since October.
