Seoul (Agencies): North Korea has suggested to some embassies including those of UK and Russia to consider evacuation to ensure safety of their citizens in the country, reports said. Its officials said they would not be able to guarantee the safety of foreigners in case of outbreak of any conflict.

The warning concealed as suggestion follows deployment of two of intermediate range ballistic missiles on mobile launchers by the military. They were moved to the east coast, implying a threat to Japan or US Pacific bases. The report could not be confirmed. But any such movement may be intended to demonstrate that the North, angry about joint US-South Korean military exercises and the imposition of UN sanctions, is prepared to demonstrate its ability to mount an attack.

It is understood the British Foreign Office has no intention of evacuating the mission in the capital Pyongyang despite the North Korean regime saying it could not protect embassies and international missions if war broke out after April 10.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "The British Embassy in Pyongyang received a communication from the North Korean government this morning saying that the North Korean government would be unable to guarantee the safety of embassies and international organisations in the country in the event of conflict from April 10th."

"A representative of the North Korean foreign ministry suggested that the Russian side examine the question of evacuating the employees of the Russian embassy," Russian embassy spokesman Denis Samsonov told Russian news agencies.

He said the mission had taken note of the information and was working normally. "We are currently in the process of taking the decision," said Samsonov, adding that the current situation in Pyongyang was "absolutely peaceful".A The spokesman said he believed that a similar suggestion had also been made to other diplomatic missions in the capital.

North Korea has warned that nuclear conflict could break out on the Korean peninsula, prompting the US to move its missile shield to the United States.
